Service To The Reading Community

Hosea Library Reference offers volunteer services to help nurture, develop and grow a reading culture among young people from primary through to University level in Zimbabwe. Advances ICT, the proliferation of CDs, Internet games and movies have all overcrowded lives of the young and old leaving little time to engage in reading novels, storybooks and fairy tales for leisure. Hosea Reference Library will endeavour to reignite an appetite to read, by posting current book reviews and new novel titles that capture the imagination of the young and old.

All our reference material is submitted by qualified personnel with a keen interest in sharing their knowledge without fear or favour and those professionals who believe and thrive in the virtues of sharing and growing knew knowledge to better the lives of their fellow countrymen. These are professionals who apart from their busy schedule in tutoring and lecturing everyday at various institutions in Zimbabwe and abroad see it fit to offer their professional expertise by providing their material to this platform.

All these professionals volunteer their knowledge acquired over the years so that those who read from the Hosea Library Reference can become a genius for free.

Hosea Library Reference takes great pride in providing access and nurturing a keen interest among students of all ages in various reading exercises, for education, information, and leisure that helps to improve their reading skills and an overall better understanding of the world we live in through learning. In that quest Hosea Library Reference engages in nationwide promoting and fostering story book reading with students in libraries in the community and various schools. It also endeavour to provide previews of good storybooks, children’s books so that these will attract the interest of avid readers

Our story book reading initiatives and activities are very helpful towards students’ improvement in reading and understanding.

In The News

Most often when away from home, participating in activities that grab the attention of learners in an environment conducive to acquiring new knowledge is in the best interest of new learners. Reading becomes fun and involving for learners and they find it very irresistible to involve themselves in reading teams and sharing new found knowledge. This belief system drives our reading teams where we group young people from various walks of life and schools to participate in reading activities to better their reading and cement their belief and love for books. When learners engage themselves through team effort they exchange knowledge and better understand each other’s reading skills and learning to read will be great fun propelling them to continue to nurture themselves to higher levels of reading.

All learning happens on the premise of one's ability to read. Skill to be a better reader is acquired through learning. The reason for going to school is to learn and understand how to read. All learning this therefore the foundation of all knowledge. Thus Hosea Reference Library’s firm commitment is to encourage the younger generations of our country to be engaged in reading books to gain knowledge and understanding. When reading ability is achieved by the young and old, then all things becomes achievable. Learning is valued across the nation thus helping to build an educated and productive population.

Books are an important source of cognition, helping to shape the life of one generation to another. Children are sent to school to learn and better understand the world around them. But schools face immense challenges in terms of access to reading materials, textbooks and fostering comprehension skills among children and encouraging the culture of reading. To overcome such challenges Hosea Library Reference has an ongoing initiative of distributing free books in underfunded schools by sourcing donations from likeminded stakeholders. We want to help develop a culture or reading for the very young to love books and to value reading in their daily life.

In order for a developing country to achieve growth,it is vital that it should give full attention to the needs of its outlying communities, which are frequently ignored because of their economic and social deprivation.
